Slavery is a diverse institution. It occurred virtually everywhere, in different forms. In most cases, slaves were people on the periphery of society, or prisoners of war. Even in Africa, this institution existed before the appearance of the white man.
However, what the white “civilization” brought was beyond all imagination.
This civilization can be approached in two ways: what it gave to the world and what traces it left behind. Everyone knows what achievements are tied to our culture, as we communicate about it. It is really commendable.
However, what traces he has left in the world is felt only by those who have faced those traces. My time what I spent in Africa and my children who were born there make me sensitive, so allow me to summarize in one sentence: when I face the traces of slavery, perhaps similar feelings swirl in me, as in the Jews who visit Auschwitz or the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem.
Not only whites, Arabs also took part in the slave trade. Not only Christianity but also Islam was defiled by their actions. And on Sundays and Fridays, followers of these cultures were able to go to church, mosque and pray! Then they established such hypocrite churches and mosques in the countries that were sources of slaves! I know there will be posts to say that in many cases the black tribal chiefs sold the slaves themselves. Criticism is directed also there.
Let us not forget that in vain the institution of slavery was abolished on paper in 1883, in reality it still exists to this day. Even today, there are “superior ones,” high cultures, there is human trafficking, debt trap, and a thousand other ways how one dominates over another.
