Rational and irrational world
In the interpretation of Quran, there are two worlds, but rather two "groups of worlds", the invisible, ‘Alem al-Gheib ( الغيب عالم ,(i.e. undiscovered world covered by secrets and the visible, 'Alem alShihada (الشهادة عالم ,(that can be captured by human brain. In this conception, the word world is always in the plural, so Allah (SWT) is not Lord the world but Lord of the Worlds. Lord of what is Visible and of what is Invisible. For today's man this means rational and irrational space. The dimension what can be perceived by the human brain and what cannot.
One of the many weaknesses of our advanced civilization is that it wants to explain everything. I put it wrong. It's normal to want to explain everything. The trouble is, that man also wants to explain things he doesn’t have yet a brain for, i.e. he's not ready yet! He squeezes the things of the unknown, irrational world into his small brain capacity, by which he paints a confused, tangled reality of what he does not know or he is not able to know. He forces the framework of his own tiny little rational brain capacity, i.e. his rational world, into the irrational world, imagines its operation with the regularity of his own laws, as a result it becomes unacceptable, ridiculous to him, and therefore ultimately simpler if he considers it as non-existent. He then applies this thinking pattern to all areas, including law. He prepares subjective laws and tries to force into these created laws the events of a much larger dimension of reality. The result is ridiculous at best.
As physical space expands, so does the unknown world with the cognition. Whoever truly discovers cannot observe that the undiscovered territory is running out, but on the contrary, it will be more and more.
Believing in assumptions is different than believing in testimonies of faith. To create proofs to the assumptions retrospectively under the heading “science,” that’s really what man is doing today. Our consciousness has not yet left behind the era of the Inquisitions. We live in the same entrenched naivety, where we consider heretics within ourselves everything what we don’t understand, what we don’t have a brain for. We are unable to spread our arms and say: here is the border, from here God is the Lord, we ask Him to open the path of cognition, dispel the obscurity, pull aside the veil from a part of the unknown.
In the history of faith, Solomon (Suleiman) was given the privilege that a piece of veil had fallen. He asked from Allah two things: wisdom and supernatural power. But thinking about his request, he went on to say that with his death, this wisdom and power would not pass on to anyone else. He was a humble servant of the Lord, i.e. Muslim. He knew that if such power fell into the hands of others, it would be abused.
And We did try Solomon: We placed on his throne a body (without life); but he did turn (to Us in true devotion): (Quran 38:34)
The body (without life) on his throne has been variously interpreted. The interpretation that appeals to me most is that his earthly power, great as it was, was like a body without a soul, unless it was vivified by Allah's spirit. But Solomon did turn to Allah in true devotion, and his real power lay there. He did his best to root out idolatry, and he completed the Temple in Jerusalem for the worship of the One True God.
He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure).
He asked for a Power that he would not misuse, though others might not be able to refrain from misusing it, -such as power over forces of nature or forces of violence.
Allah bestowed such abundant powers and bounties on Solomon that they could not be counted or measured: and he was free to give away anything he liked or keep anything he liked. In this was great temptation for an ordinary man. Solomon as a prophet withstood it and asked to be forgiven for power and such a kingdom as others might not be able to use lawfully. His earthly kingdom went to pieces after his death. But his name and fame endure. And what is more, he obtained a place among the Nearest Ones to Allah.
Solomon also had a third request from Allah. It was about, if the Temple will be built by the power of Allah (it was ready in B.C. 960) and a believer sincerely prays in it, his prayer will cleanse him as if he was born today. Well, that time hasn't come yet. Not only because the temple of Solomon was destroyed twice to the ground (Nebuchadnezzar 587 BC, Titus 70 AD), but perhaps the believer who has such a sincere need for purification has not yet been born.
